Theatre Communications Group, the national organization for nonprofit U.S. theater, told the Tribune Wednesday that its 33rd national conference is headed to Chicago June 20-22, 2024.
TCG’s meetings, which now are biennial, typically attract at least 1,000 theater professionals from across the country. Around the time of the conference, many of them also head out to the theater. The last time the TCG meeting was held in Chicago was 2010.
“Our Conference, called Ideas to Action, (is) focused on artistic risk-taking, race and gender, the arts learning continuum, and our creative ecosystem,” said Teresa Eyring, TCG’s executive director, in a statement. Eyring also referred to Chicago’s theater community as “irreplaceable.”
The League of Chicago Theatres is the local liaison for the conference, which will be based at the Hyatt Regency Chicago with programming at various arts venues; more details of the meeting are to follow.
