Eddie Izzard goes all-in on politics in 'Wunderbar' at the Chicago Theatre

By March 17, 2020 Entertainment News

But this show, “Wunderbar,” felt different. It’s less flashy than the others (the signature opening son et lumiere show notwithstanding) and is composed merely of Izzard himself, with intermission. There is a coherent world view — “be brave and curious not fearful and suspicious” — and you can intuit Izzard gravitating toward a political manifesto as, to use his words, “a radical moderate,” meaning that he is positioning himself as a pro-European voice in an age of Brexit. His point of view, he said, expressing much of it in English, French and German, is that our time on this planet is short and that you might as well do positive things before you “explode.”
