Sunday’s finale in the 2020 U.S. Open at Winged Foot should be a great show. The course will be dialed up to likely as tough as we’ll see it all week, and the last 10 pairings on Sunday are all in the mix. Matthew Wolff enters as the favorite, and he should be as he leads by two going in and is coming off an all-time great 65 in Round 3.
However, he’ll have to hold off Bryson DeChambeau (two back), Louis Oosthuizen (four), Xander Schauffele (five), Hideki Matsuyama (five) and Rory McIlroy (six). Whether he can actually do that will determine whether we get one of the youngest major winners of all time. He would be both the youngest major champion since Tiger Woods won the 1997 Masters and the youngest U.S. Open champion since Bobby Jones won in 1923. History is there for him. The tough part is making it.
